The Mystery of the Sign

As a warning, if you’re visiting, you might miss us at first because we’re missing a sign!

If you haven’t read our renovation story, the Queen City Inn was originally named the Queen’s Motel. Until the early 2000s, the hotel was equipped with the second of two signs. The first original sign was deemed too tall and adjusted to a shorter size. That new shorter sign persisted for decades. Long time locals recall the sign as one of the landmarks on Main Street. Sometime around 2000, perhaps during transfer of ownership, the sign was completely removed, including utility lines running from the building and the place where it stood was replanted with grass.

If anyone knows if that sign still exists and/or where it is, we’d love to hear from you! Email us at: info@queencityinnsd.com.

Phase 2 - Upgrades!

That brings us to Phase 2!

Phase 1 was the renovation of the building into a habitable state and was going to conclude with the installation of a brand new sign on the gable of the building. However, since the building was in much worse shape than initially believed, the sign had to be put on the back burner.

However, now’s the time to move forward! We’ve entered Phase 2, consisting of further building upgrades, including a new sign! The sign design has started and every guest staying with us helps the hotel get closer to being decorated with brand new neon, bringing it back to its original glory, with perhaps a new twist!

As a thank you to our guests, we’re revealing the rendering of the current sign design and stay tuned (sign up for our newsletter below) as we move forward with upgrading this staple of Main Street. We’re grateful for all our guests for staying with us, it helps us grow!
